Damages Resulting From Disasters

Completion of this form will assist the County in collecting damage information and associated costs with the current event. Information will be used to determine the estimated dollar amount of disaster damages within the County and be used to determine if enough disaster damages have occurred to qualify for disaster assistance. Completing this form does not guarantee a disaster declaration will be received nor does it guarantee you will be eligible or receive disaster assistance. This is an informational gathering document that will be used to determine if disaster assistance is eligible based on the total amount of damages countywide.  Please submit any questions about the information collected on this form to RecoverySanDiego@sdcounty.ca.gov

For example, if a home with an estimated value of $500,000 is completely destroyed, and its insurance only covered $250,000, their uninsured/under-insured loss percentage of the total property value would be 50%. If a renter’s belongings are estimated at $10,000 and they suffer losses of $5,000, with insurance only covering $1000, their uninsured/underinsured losses percentage would be 40%.
